Woodland Heights Medical Center Offers Therapeutic Procedure for Men’s Urinary Health
7/28/2025
Lufkin, TX – Woodland Heights Medical Center continues to expand its robotic surgery capabilities with a minimally invasive therapy for men suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate.
Urologic surgeons use this FDA-cleared therapy with real-time imaging, robotic automation, and a heat-free waterjet to precisely remove excel prostate tissue. The procedure allows for a tailored treatment plan based on each patient’s unique anatomy and offers consistent results, regardless of prostate size or shape.
For patient William Davidson, this new therapy has been life-changing. “Before the procedure, I was getting up multiple times a night. My bladder never felt completely empty,” he shared. “During the day, I had to plan everything around bathroom access. As a school bus driver, I’d stop drinking anything by noon to get through my route.”
Since undergoing the procedure eight months ago, Mr. Davidson no longer wakes up during the night, no longer takes urinary health medications, and has resumed his daily routines without interruption. “This procedure has truly changed my life. I’ve already suggested it to two coworkers and I would 100% recommend it to anyone dealing with the same issues.”
“We are proud to offer a solution that provides significant, lasting symptom relief with a lower risk of impacting continence or sexual function,” said Dr. Shawn Todd, urologist on Woodland Heights Medical Center’s medical staff. “It’s part of our ongoing commitment to improving men’s health through advanced surgical options.”
BPH is a common condition, affecting roughly half of men between the ages of 51 and 60. Left untreated, it can lead to serious complications like bladder stones, urinary retention, or kidney damage. Many traditional surgical options have required men to choose between symptom relief and long-term side effects such as incontinence or sexual dysfunction.
Dr. Brent Campbell, local urologist on the medical staff at Woodland Heights who was also instrumental in bringing this resource to Lufkin, added, “many men suffer in silence with BPH symptoms, believing side effects are unavoidable. This procedure offers an effective alternative with fewer tradeoffs—and our patients are seeing great results.”
Woodland Heights Medical Center continues to bring care options to East Texas, offering new hope and improved quality of life for men living with BPH.
