4/12/2024
Lufkin, TX, (April 8, 2024, 2024) – Jaselyn Snelson, a registered nurse at Woodland Heights Medical Center for four years, has received a national 2023 Nursing Excellence Award.
Snelson is one of ten national winners selected across all hospitals affiliated with Community Health Systems, one of the leading operators of general acute-care hospitals and outpatient care centers in communities across the United States. The organization’s affiliates include Woodland Heights Medical Center and 71 other hospitals in 15 states.
Jaselyn was surprised during a reception held in her honor where she was presented with a crystal plaque as well as a symbolic check for the cash award she received.
“Jaselyn has exhibited numerous examples in offering great attention to detail when it comes to her patients,” said Allison Cain, chief nursing officer at Woodland Heights Medical Center. “Had it not been for her diligence and keen eye on her patients’ conditions, outcomes for these babies would have been much different. I am so proud of Jaselyn and the care she offers our patients.”
The Nursing Excellence Award was created to honor the critical role nurses have played in treating patients to help them get well and live healthier lives. The peer-nominated award program was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence. These characteristics include outstanding care, compassion, service and innovation, and reflect the efforts of someone who is a demonstrated team player and/or mentor to others, is a leader in times of crises, and who regularly promotes health in the community.
Snelson joined Woodland Heights Medical Center in 2020 when she became a registered nurse. She started out in the medical/surgical unit; then moved to the mother/baby before she transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit where she now works. Last year, she was also awarded the DAISY award for her exemplary care.
In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, Snelson received a cash award and a gift box to recognize and express gratitude for extraordinary nursing.
