Every April, Woodland Heights Medical Center hosts its Annual Women in Red Luncheon, reminding women to take pause and remember to take care of themselves…and their heart.
During the luncheon, the audience is both informed and entertained as a local physician offers education on women and heart disease, including risks, prevention, and treatment. Worldwide, 8.6 million women die from heart disease each year; 267,000 women die each year from heart attacks, which is six times as likely to kill women as breast cancer. Following the physician, a motivational speaker enlightens the audience, leaving them refreshed with food for thought.
We also work with local Angelina County schools to offer both a Poetry Contest and Art Contest for local students, encouraging their creativity and bringing an awareness to cardiac disease. A delicious lunch is served and door prizes and raffle prizes are also awarded.
Normally held on the last Thursday in April, the Women in Red Luncheon is a great time to get together with friends and take a little time for you. For more information on becoming a partner or ticket information, call 936-637-8688.
