Woodland Heights Medical Center Announces that the Air is Clear
In a cooperative community health initiative, Woodland Heights Medical Center and Memorial Health System of East Texas announced that all of their hospital campuses will be smoke-free beginning today.
The announcement comes following several months of work by a joint committee that has developed joint policies that the hospitals will use. “From the start we determined this was a combined project that was focused on improving the healthcare environment of our facilities,” said Lance Jones, CEO of Woodland Heights Medical Center.
November 15 was chosen as the implementation date since it is the day of the Great American Smoke out. “We believe that this is the right time to take this important step to create a healthier environment our patients, employees and guests,” Jones said.
“We work hard to set the standard to treating people who are sick, we believe that it is equally important to set the standard for health and wellness in our community.
The campaign to go smoke- free, known as “Clear the Air”, will be featured on signs and in information distributed at both facilities. For any information regarding how you or someone you love can quit smoking please contact Tara Watson at 936-637-8687.
